MEET Baron Here is his story: The name Baron was chosen for this cat because it means “young warrior”. (His foster mom says Baron is also noble as he sits around the house in a very proud manner.) Baron was found injured and stray in Clarksville, TN by Officer Journey at Montgomery County Animal Care and Control. Officer Journey wanted to help him and asked us for assistance. Baron had his tail taken off right after he was found as it was in terrible shape and infected. His shoulder also was injured and will require surgery. Baron is currently in a foster home with other cats and dogs and loves everyone he meets. He enjoys sitting with his foster family and watching TV. He always tells you if he’s hungry. His foster family believes he doesn’t know he’s a cat and thinks he’s human. At about 5 years old, he should have a long life ahead of him if we can get him all fixed up. Please consider donating for Baron’s shoulder surgery. All donations go directly to pay veterinary bills for Montgomery County animals in need. DONATE HERE MEET Hollow We are always reviewing posts on FB for animals in need. And we responded to a plea on Saturday. Read below the post from Hollow’s angel and now foster mom. “I’m headed to whatever vet will help me! I found this kitten by the college, and it was walking into the road - so I lured it and got it away from the road. However, he seems really weak and maybe sick. This was two days ago; he has a scratch on his nose like somebody threw him out and he hit his nose. It was raining and cold that day. And he’s much weaker today. Help someone guide me to a vet that WILL help! I cannot keep this kitty or afford it’s bills but I want to help it so bad. It’s amazing - the first day he was really mean and scared but today only I can hold him. I gained his trust, and I want to help him so bad. I need donations PLEASE! It’ll be $200 for me to get him the stuff he needs to get him into a home! How can the community help??" This is exactly why The Montgomery County Angel Fund was started. We told this wonderful person that we would help. The vet bill was $175. Hollow needed an exam, a few tests, fluids, de-worming, and meds for Coccidia. Here is Hollow's journey since Saturday -- "He was seriously sick and weak and was unable to keep his temp up the day I took him into the vet. They didn’t think he’d make it past that evening. Everyday I’ve spent with him I’ve given him warm milk (kitten replacement), love, and a warm bed . He’s upgraded from a small cage to a large cage (he’s capable of escaping from it.) ALSO he now meows and plays and jumps and climbs! He’s come such a long ways in just 5 days with the help from a few people and the The Montgomery County Angel Fund. I’ve decided to name him Hollow because when I found him he was so cold and hollow. But today he’s full of such JOY! Eventually Hollow will be looking for his forever home but for now he’s in my care and I’ll be sure to fill him with so much love and care!" Another life saved - and thank you to Hollow's angel for saving him! What an amazing story!!! If you would like to donate to Hollow's vet bill please do so: DONATE TODAY Misty came into the Montgomery County Animal Care and Control with 3 puppies. She was there for over a month. She has a tumor on her chest - so we knew she would not be adopted. We took her to the vet where we discovered she was heart worm positive and has cancer. We are treating the heart worms and will have the tumor removed as soon as it is safe to do so. In the meantime, Misty is living the good life in her foster home. We will keep you posted on her progress.
DONATE TODAY TO HELP MISTY & OTHERS UPDATE MAY 10, 2019 Remember Misty!!!! She was in Montgomery County Animal Care and Control last year for two months. She had come in as a stray with three puppies and had a huge tumor on her chest. We pulled her in July and took her to the vet to have the tumor checked - and found out that day that she was also heart worm positive. She had little chance of survival at the shelter. So we kept her - and over the last 10 months - she has had the tumor removed (no cancer), has been spayed, has been adopted, and yesterday - we found out she is now HEART WORM NEGATIVE. She is truly a miracle - and a testament to what love can do. Another life saved by The Montgomery County Angel Fund. Thank you to all who support us! Yum E. Dollar has been at Montgomery County Animal Care and Control since last month after officers picked him up for not wearing his state-required rabies tag. He's earning his keep in the lobby at the shelter though having collected $119.54 thus far from shelter visitors. Thank you to everyone who continues to share information about the Angel Fund!
YOU CAN STILL DONATE TODAY Hello friends!!! We need some help with our buddy, Dale. Dale was adopted from Animal Control in March, but was returned shortly after when it was discovered that he had heart worms. Sadly, his owners could not afford the treatments. Dale was a staff and volunteer favorite in March, and everyone was devastated when he was returned. He is a big, big love! Thank heavens - we had a wonderful person fall in love with Dale on Facebook - and she has been fostering him during his treatments. He is due for his final injections this week - which will cost somewhere near $700. The Angel Fund has committed to taking care of this final cost. Another life saved! And thank you to Misty - his wonderful foster mom for loving him. Any donation will be greatly appreciated. If you can’t donate, every share helps also.
DONATE TODAY TO HELP DALE AND OTHERS Scarlet, a 2-year old German Shepherd, came in to Animal Control last week from an owner who had hit hard times and could no longer care for her. Scarlet had some serious health problems - so we sent her to the vet to be checked out. The vet did an ultrasound and found several issues, the biggest one being a huge kidney stone that needs to be removed. We sent money to help with the surgery. Please consider donating so we can help more Montgomery County Animal Care and Control animals in need.
DONATE TODAY TO HELP SCARLET & OTHERS We are helping 2 more dogs today - both Labs - Sadie and Handsome. Both Labs have ear issues. Handsome’s ear was so impacted that he had to be sedated so the ear could be cleaned out. Handsome is also heart worm positive. Please consider donating to the Angel Fund to help these babies.
DONATE TODAY TO HELP SADIE & HANDSOME + OTHERS Drake was surrendered to AC with a broken leg, one that had been broken for about 2 weeks. The owner had taken him to a vet but only got pain meds for him. He’s only 5 months old and deserves a chance at a good life. AC took him to the vet, and X-rays were taken that looked good at first. They thought that there was a chance to save his leg. However, when they went in to operate, there was too much scar tissue ( if he had been taken to a vet sooner, his leg could have been saved), and his right rear leg was amputated. The next day when he could leave the vet, he stood right up and walked out to the car to live in his foster home. He’s doing great. And expected to be finished up with rechecks in about a week. He will be going to rescue soon. There are some hefty charges associated with Drake’s care, so please donate to help him! Thank you!
DONATE TODAY TO HELP DRAKE & OTHERS Baxter, a Border Collie mix was found as a stray in the Clarksville, Tn area and taken to Animal Control. No one came looking for him. Notified that he was in need, a no kill shelter stepped up to help him without any knowledge of his medical condition. Baxter has been at a local clinic having a series of tests run to identify his needs. Baxter tested heart worm positive, has lung inflammation as a result of this, has elevated labs, a low grade heart murmur, and a bacterial skin infection. These results are due to severe neglect that he has experienced, yet through all of the bad, he will not experience this again. A rescue in KY has committed to helping Baxter, and this is where we need your help. His short stay and testing and medications to start his heart worm treatment have already reached a $450 vetting bill. This is just the beginning of months and additional costs of treatment. We have donated $200 to cover part of his treatment. Please donate so we can continue to help Baxter and all the other animals we can save. DONATE TODAY TO HELP BAXTER & OTHERS |
